Head Coach:  Jason Smith

The 2024-25 season will be Jason's 32nd year coaching at Fountain Valley and his 27th year as Head Coach.  In 2022-23 he coached the Varsity Barons to the first round of CIF playoffs and In 1999-2000 and 2019-20 he coached the Varsity Barons to the Sunset League Championship,  with the Barons going all the way to the CIF Division 1 Semi-Finals in 1999-2000  Additionally, he coached the Barons to the third round CIF Quarter Finals in 2018-19, the CIF Semi-Finals in 2004-05 and to a Sunset League Title in 2008.  

 

Jason graduated from Edison High School with 2 Sunset League selections.  He was a member of the OCC Men’s Soccer team which won the State Junior College Championship and played Division 1 Soccer at UCI.  Jason was also an Assistant Coach at Orange Coast College.  Jason is entering  his 16th year as Co-Department Coordinator at FVHS in the Special Education Department.

Asst Coach:  Jon Lloyd 

​

The 2024-25 season will be Jon’s 15th year coaching for FVHS.  Jon was a three-year letterman, 1997 – 1999, for the Barons.  Jon pursued his education at Orange Coast College and Long Beach State and has been teaching at FVHS since 2007 in the English Department

​JV Coach:  James Lawson 

​

The 2024-25 season will be James' 11th year as JV Coach of Fountain Valley High School, coaching the team to be the Wave League JV Champions.  He has assisted Jason on a U18 club team and coached at younger club levels and AYSO teams. James graduated from FVHS in 2004, after playing soccer all 4 years for the school.  James also played for the Wolfpack Soccer Club starting at U11 Bronze and ended his club career playing on a U19 Premier team.  In addition to coaching at FVHS, James is the Youth Director for the Huntington Beach Pateadores and Assistant Coach at Orange Coast College.

Frosh/Soph Coach: Duc Tran

​

The 2024-25 season will be Duc's fifth year as Frosh/Soph Coach at Fountain Valley High School.  He currently coaches  a local club team and AYSO Region 5 teams.  Duc graduated from Cal Poly Pomona.
